This month, we finally got to move into the house we just bought. It’s a beautiful house, but definitely needed a little love before we could move in. We decided to get a bunch of painting and floor finishing done before moving in, but the house wasn’t vacant until the 20th – which means we had to make pretty quick work.

There was a bedroom on the first floor that was carpeted, with nice hardwood floors underneath – that just needed a little love. Because of this, and my preference for darker floors, we decided to get a hardwood floors specialist in to do the first floor. Painting before that day was a good idea – we didn’t drip much, but I would have died if I dripped paint on a newly finished floor.

Here’s a before-and-after (well, -during) of the first floor bedroom:

Painting the walls and ripping out the carpeting sure did a lot to change this room.

Once we got the floor refinished, it really came together. My husband is in the process of finishing this room; it’ll be a great music room.

Another room we re-did was the living room, next door.

We took the living room from red to teal, with gray walls throughout the rest of the room.

This room will really look nice once we get new furniture into it. The dark floors do so much in here, too. Looking forward to adding lots of bright details to the room.

We moved into a place with a gorgeous kitchen, but the wallpaper needed to be updated.

This wallpaper had to go.

Taking the wallpaper down was a ton of work, though.

We’ve made pretty good progress in this room, too, but I’m going to save the reveal on this room for next month. 🙂
