This past Saturday afternoon a friend of mine threw a surprise birthday tea party for his girlfriend. I thought it’d be a great opportunity to bring along my camera and practice shooting in daylight for once. I still have a lot to learn about shooting with a DSLR, and without being able to see my photo previews on the LCD screen I was pretty lost in manual shooting mode. But at least playing with my fast prime lens made me feel like I was doing real photography.
It was pretty chilly out, and the wind was relentless. Fortunately, a couple of the guys set up a pretty effective wind block with some picnic tables.
This dog LOVES to play outside.
It was pretty chilly… a few of the guests wore fabulous blanket gowns like this one, and it was terrific.
Finally, the guest of honor shows up and takes in the surprise.
There were a lot of surprise rubber ducks over the course of the afternoon.
